Last year while riding in a rainy race, the headshok on my 2005 1FG sucked up water and froze. I took it to my lbs for servicing; they pulled the shock apart and found it to be non-serviceable. When ordering a new shock directly from cannondale, I was told that the original headshok was on back order (read: never going to get one). The headshok I eventually received looks to be a much older model. It doest have the lock-out capability, which is necessary on a singlespeed since you spend so much time out of the saddle. Since the headshok was replaced in 02-2005 I have ridden the 1FG less then 5 times, it is unbearable.

Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about the magura ccs system? Where did you buy it and how much does it cost? Was it on backorder or did you receive it in a timely manner?

Thanks for the feedback,

I don't suppose they gave you your old one back did they? This sounds all too fishy. I don't mean to get off your topic, I know little about that, I have no customers with them, haven't ordered any either. I did feel one at the show this fall, it felt nice, that's all I can tell you right now. BUT... your old one is fixable, I don't know what sort of freshman they had that told you it could not be fixed, but I have pulled many of these back from the dead. It's an '05 for cripes sake, so all the parts are available in spades, all you need is someone who can actually put them in. If it sucked in water, the bearings and races are in rough shape, that should be it. If the cartridge is blown, you can get a refresh on it too. Not to mention, if they got you something from Cannondale, it would have to be modern, they don't ship out old product, ever, unless there is a specific reason to do so, and they happen to have it. The fork is available in several levels, some with lockout, some without they just sent you a baseline one. Worst case, they are modular, and you can put your existing lockout cart in the new fork. I hate to stir the fire here, but unless there is something that I haven't ever seen in 15 years, you got hosed. Hope they gave you the old one back! Find a new shop and get it fixed, shouldn't run you more than $85 to $100 for the whole thing, if it even needs all that. Or send it to me, if there is no one local who's decent. Good luck!
