I've been off the bike for a little while now. Just getting back into the swing of riding because I love it. I have the opprotunity to convert my ride to Disc. I was thinking of the Avid mech. but funds are a little tight now (just bought a house). Can i run my old shimano XT 8spd shifter lever with the Avid Mech. Thanks

Your shifter will operate derailleurs, not brakes. If you mean a combo brake/shifter pod, yes the brake levers will work fine with Avid mechs (I've used 'em for several years, like them a lot).

Sorry bro I should have said that I have a combo brake/shifter pod. So it will work I might be swapping over to the disc side of the fence Thanks for the reply
