oh almighty singlespeed dorks, its time for a few questions from a less-informed individual!

1. my chainring on my monocog has a crazy low spot, and i was looking to get a new one. am i able to find a fairly inexpensive (under 40) chainring that doesnt have this problem, or will i just have to deal with this?

2. here in a month or so ill probably be purchasing a rob roy, and i wanted some bars that are drop-esque, but don't kill my back. ive heard nothing but good things about the midge bars, but i really only see them on mtbs. would they be good for a fixie/cross/commuter roadie?

1.You can easily find a chainring for under $40. I personally like the SURLY stainless steel chainrings for their durability and longevity, but you could also get a Salsa or something else for around $25. I think the SPOT Brand rings are a bit more.

check out www.aebike.com for good prices on both the SURLY and SALSA rings.

2. The Midge is a great bar for a cross bike/road commuter. Just be sure to read some past threads on set up to optimize the benefits of the drop bar. Good luck!

I'm really satisfied with the Blackspire chainring that I picked up for around $30. As for the bars, I'm setting up a commuter right now and haven't decided on whether or not to put a moustache bar on or not.
