Question re: ISG tab on Tilt.

793 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  flymybike
I am building up a Tilt from the frame up. I’ve got a question about the “removeable” ISG tab.

when I measure with calipers, I am getting right around 73mm WITH the ISG tab on there. Without it I am getting around 70mm.

So this looks to me like I have to use it in order for a BB for a 73mm shell to work.

Am I correct in this? And if so, how does one actually remove it and still make everything work?

TIA.

You need the tab. Why remove it?

Good question: why is it called “removable” if you can’t remove it?

I am not worried about leaving it on there, I just want to make sure that I am accounting for it correctly when determining the bottom bracket spacers needed… namely, that I consider this a 73mm shell WITH the tab.
Because you can replace it, if it becomes damaged.

Ah, got it.

They might want to call it “replaceable” then.

The Tilt (and Lithium) are 73mm BB's with the ISCG tab in place. The ISCG tab can be removed and you can substitute a 2.5mm spacer if your shaving grams. Also replaceable if you happen to damage it, strip a thread, ETC.
