Question about hubs

Ok, so I want to eventually get an RS Pike which uses a 20mm TA. I currently have an SR Suntour Duro which uses a generic quick release. I want to do this upgrade in stages instead of dropping 600+ all at once.

Are there adapters that I can use to mount a 20mm TA hub to a QR fork?

Thanks

Not that I know of. Some hubs can be swapped in between, but that probably wouldn't be a cost effective upgrade.

No. You need to match the fork mount with the proper hub type. In other words if you're doing this in stages you should get the Pike and let it sit until you have the means to get the proper hub. BTW some hubs are convertable, I.E. DT Swiss, Hope, Hadley.

Not in the way you are probably thinking, however there are a few companies that offer hubs that can be converted between the various front axles systems. The 2 offhand that I can think of are Hope and King- the better value in this instance probably being the Hope Pro2 (I just picked one up). You can buy this hub with the QR axle then when you're ready you can get the 20mm converter kit for, I think, around $30.

A solid set of wheels is a great investment- don't cut corners on the quality of the parts. Wheels can be swapped around from bike to bike. You may end up replacing your bike before you get around to swapping the fork, then whatever you buy you can swap your wheelset into.

Do you have disc brakes now? If not you need to make sure you build up a wheel using a rim that has a brake track for a rim brake- not disc-specific. You can still use that rim on a disc-brake equipped bike (I'm pretty sure the Pike is disc-only, I haven't ordered mine yet)
