I have a 2013 Trek Fuel EX that has a Fox Factory Series Float fork. Trek say the fork's travel is 130mm. However, Fox lists only 120mm and 140mm forks on their website. I know my fork is Trek's own DRCV version. My question is: Is the 130mm travel a Trek-proprietary thing or can you shorten an aftermarket 140mm Fox to 130mm? (Forget Talas here.)

Thanks. Is that something that needs to be done by a professional or at least with pro tools? Will I need to change the oil when I do it?

no and no. Well sort of; you'll need to remove the lowers and will need snap ring pliers (are those "pro" tools?) to get inside the spring side. And you'll need to replace the semi-bath oil, but not the damping fluid. I believe Fox's service guides are pretty good; you'll probably be surprised how easy it is to do.
