Question about Cateye Enduro 2

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I went with the place with a lot of traffic....

I love my Enduro 2, and I'm a big fan of Cateye value and their customer service (this is not a rant...)

For the second time, I've had an enduro 2 stop registering distance and time. The only thing it shows is current speed, and max speed, but at the end of the ride it registers 0 miles and 0 time.

First time, I called Cateye and they told me it must be defective, and they immediately sent a replacement. 1300+ miles later, the exact same thing has happened.

I have not called Cateye, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and/or if they know what might be causing it. I have not tried replacing the batteries (maybe just a dying battery?). Mainly because I don't want to loose all my data unless I know that is a fix.

Anyone had this experience before?

My Enduro2 was bulletproof, took numerous smacks and was rock solid the entire time. I'm surprised you had any problems, let alone problems on two units.

Other than this problem, I agree.

Just out of curiosity, Have you had a battery die yet? I'm wondering if this is just the first sign of the battery dying? I guess I know one way to find out

But yeah, Mine's taken a licking and kept on ticking. And when they've died, it is was not even during a wreck. That's why I'm confused.

I'm a very happy Cateye Customer, and will remain as such. :)
Only problem I've ever had with my enduro 2 is the MPH jumping around, right before the battery expired. I think I've got 3 of them right now and have not had your problem in about 4 or 5 years of use. I have learned not to remove it from the mount very often, as this does seem to wear out the contact points. Just contact cateye again and explain what has happened, maybe they can tell you what is going wrong, or maybe not. But hopefully they will give you another new enduro 2.

Interesting, I take it off EVERY time because:
1. I store the bike in a barn and it gets cold in the winter (battery drain), and
2. I ride two bikes and I'm constantly switching back and forth.

Guess I'll give 'em a call.

Like I said, for anyone reading this. Catey is great. Great price, great product and awesome support. I don't think my problem is common....
Simple but stupid thing...mine has done that on occasion where I can't get trip mileage and current speed. If I cycle the buttons it will pick up at times, but most of the time the sensor is just a hair to far from the magnet.

No I was on the original battery (about 1,500 offroad miles) when I handed it down to my wife for a Specialized Turbo Pro computer (which wasn't nearly as easy to use, but had much more functionality). And since then I've moved on to a Polar 720 to replace my Specialized Turbo Pro and Sigma HRM both.

I rarely ever took mine off too, so maybe the contact points thing has some validity to it.
Well I feel like a real ass!

I didn't realize that you can select to turn off the autostart feature. This is done by pressing the reset button on the back, which is the same button you press (but for a longer time) to switch between bikes.

So I had inadvertently turned off the autostart feature, hence the lack of registering time or distance....

Damn, that is sooooooooo stupid.

Problem fixed, thanks again to great support (and great product) at Cateye.
Don't be so hard on yourself. When I worked at the bike shop, I set up computers for many people. Most don't want to read the instructions to figure it out for themselves, just let the bike shop guy do it, never mind that they will no nothing about their bike computer. At least you solved your own problem. Now you can go forth and help others with bike computer problems.
