Question about a crank set

This is not MTN Bike related but rather road bike. I recently was given a trek 2120 road bike. I was riding it today and I noticed that every time I push on the loft pedal it squeeks really bad so I get off and inspect it. Turns out I somehow cacked the left crank ( its the piece what conects the pedal to the bike, I assume thats the crank). I was wondering what I need to do about it and if I had to buy a whol new crank set.

What to do: bring it to a bike store.
What they will do: replace the cranks.
