Hi all, first post here. I have a 1994 ParkPre Pro 825 hardtail that I am trying to bring back to life as I explore Denver front range trails as I have a lot of time there this summer.

The original Pulstar hub Free-Hub is failing, when I crank hard it pops and I lose all torque to the cassette-sprockets. I tightened up the cassette but it still does this so it has to be the free hub.

Researching on line I have determined that the free hub is Taiwanese made by KT, part No. 17298. Information I have seen indicates that no replacement part is available from KT. Does anyone know if a Shimano freehub or another manufacturers freehub is compatible with this Pulstar hub, and if so, part number?

Other options are buying a used or new rear wheel/wheel set, scavenging wheels and shifters from a used mountain bike, or buying a replacement hub and spokes, and lacing one up.

Assuming no free hubs are compatible with the Pulstar hub, lean toward buying used wheels with shifters if required. Advice? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I do too, but budgeting in this environment is a little tricky right now with the possibility of a temporary layoff in the fall. I am scheming to get a little cash flow to buy a decent used full suspension model.
