Well I am going to order an 06 X5. I will be taking all the parts off my Salty and transfer them over. The Salty was really enjoyable for me and that is why I am sticking with Ventana. I know what the design can do and it is what I want to do so it works out of course. I am switching to the X5 because sometimes I just want its lower and longer stance. The extra inch in the fork will come in handy as well.

I will be taking the Shock, bearings, and rear triangle off of the X5 and put them on the Salty. It will be much easier to sell the bike if I can say that it has a 0 mile shock, bearings, and rear triangle. The same parts that I will be putting on the X5 and good as new but I cannot pass them off as new of course.

Well I am excited. Hopefully this holiday week will not slow the shipping down too much.

Good for you on your decision! And you are a better man than me for switching out the stuff from your Salty. Me? I'd take what I could get for the Salty as is and enjoy all the newness that I had paid for! But I'm selfish like that :)

Yeah....

keep the new stuff....you won't get much more by swapping them out...in fact, if I was looking at an '04 bike and saw that it had a lot of new components on it, I would think there was something strange going on.....like the bike had been abused so bad or something that everything pretty much had to be replaced. I just sold an 05 SC and sold it as is 'like new' and it sold in a day for exactly what I wanted. The guy is psyched as it is getting sent to him today......

I think I will give the buyer the option. Everything on the Salty is in tip top shape so I do not mind at all putting it on the X5.

Look at it this way. Which Salty would you rather buy? The one with a used shock and chain slapped rear triangle or the half new one?

Sometimes the one must please is yourself. Be careful though, everytime you remove the rear triangle is a chance to cross thread the pivot bolts. Very expensive mistake if it happens.

How easy is that to do? Aren't the threads pretty robust?
