I would like to build a front wheel as a fixed gear wheel but with a disc.
I remember seeing some pictures of a surly hub, but think it has not been put into production.

does anyone have any ideas?
- could also by a surly fixer and put it on an rear hub
- build a cog with freewheel thread (and put it on a ss hub)
- build a disc tab with freewheel thread and put it on a ss flip flop hub

The Surly fixed gear disc hub is available now.

I built my Pug's front wheel before it came out so I used a Surly SS rear hub and threaded on a 21T track cog. I then used climbing accessory cord to lace it into the spokes. Not perfect, but since this is only an emergency setup to keep me rolling and I have brakes on my Pug I figure it will get me down the trail. I just can't apply back pressure to the pedals to stop the rear wheel, but with a rear disc I don't see any reason I need to.

Track cog hasn't been laced into the spokes in this shot, but you get the idea.

If I was starting again I'd just use the Surly disc fixed gear hub.
