Prophet head angle

859 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  zerosummit
So on the Cannondale website, all Prophets have adjustable head tube angles of 69 and 67.5 degrees, regardless of US or EU models. Can somebody pleeease tell me why my buddies 2009 Prophet has 67 and 65.5 written on the frame??

Here's the x-post with pictures on the Cannondale sub-forum..

depends on wich bolt hole you mount the shock to on the swing arm......you'll get 69 from one and 67.5 degrees from from the other! I'ts clearly marked under the hole.

Hm, thanks for the effort, i'm sure you reeeally tried, but.. maybe re-read the question, and then look at the pictures.
Well since you said it has standard dropouts but with a thru 12 sticker on it sounds like someone put the wrong stickers on it.Sounds like your buddy is not to worried since he didnt ask the question he's prob out ridding without you.
I have heard of people getting ahold of a team issue frame in the past, maybe its something like that?? Did your buddy get it new?

Yes, its new, bought in Slovenia. At first i thought it was mislabeled (well 'thru12' certainly is), but then i read the article from MBR. Seems they have the same model.. although they did measure the head angle and came up with 66.3, but nonetheless. Seems really strange for a company like Cannondale to make that kind of mistake.
I've been dealing with the same issue also because I have a pike fork hitting the frame and as I checked the previous models (2007 prophet 3 - brown colour for example) the picture obviously shows there's a kind of an adapter or high stack lower headset cup that provides fork clearance. The 2009 prophet 2 also has something like that (around 20 mm high) mounted between the fork and the headset. I just don't understand how that complies with the 530 mm max ac length - since the pike is 518. But it could explain the angles.
