As does the PP dial. They are simply spings (one air, one steel coil) working in opposite direction to change the preload on the PP/boost valve.
Although they are implemented differently and technically should be a difference in varying damping through the travel....Turning the dial and changing pressures will have the same real world effect on the shock. The real benefit to the PP knob is that you can easily change it in the field for varying conditions.
