Snow on top of a good amount of rain. It has been cold so the ground is froze with a lot of moisture. I see the frost coming out of the ground the biggest barrier to ridable trails. It is predicted to warm up this week which may get the ground ridable in a couple weeks.

Yep, still a thin layer of snow and ice at my Prescott place today (I split between Phx and Prescott). Last time I rode Spence Basin was 2 weeks ago with a lot of snow melt-off, and the trails were wet and slow, but ridable at that time. Not much real mud since its all decomposed granite, but tires don't roll fast. I'm not a fan of riding on wet or icy trails, so I haven't taken my bike out since then. Road in the Cave Creek area over the weekend instead.

There's no smoke in town any more. As far as I know nothing commonly ridden here was burned. Maybe the road up to the Mt Union lookout, though I know the lookout itself didn't burn. There is a forest closure but it's been reduced to the point that it closes very little trails. Groom Creek Loop is definitely in the closure area, and Smith Ravine access from the top seems closed too. Otherwise it's all open. It's dusty and loose, but I imagine most everything in the state is right now. The fire damage is disappointing if you like to explore deep into the Bradshaws (which is really more a moto/ebike thing tbh), but we still have plenty to ride.
