Post-Mortem examination

The rear axel was bent which led to it coming loose and putting side pressure in below freezing temps on an aluminum frame. The fracture concluded after multiple rear wheel hops leading to total disengagement at the welds.

Recycle

No burial, takin it to the recycler down the street. Put the money towards another Hardrock and a new axel. Hate Specialized but Hardrock's are the Shizit.

Funny story...
Purchased a top of the line seat post clamp which lasted 3 months. Picked up a bargain basement clearence one and it lasted a full year, broke the same day as my frame.
