Play in Mavic Centerlock 6-bolt adapter

Just installed a Mavic Crosstrail wheel, used the provided Centerlock 6-bolt adapter as we are using an avid 6 bolt rotor.

With brake applied, the rotor is held firm, but there seems to be play - the tire can rotate a few degrees even though the rotor is not moving.

Looks like the pins in the CL adaptor are slightly smaller than the mounting holes in the rotor so the wheel can rock back and forth a little.

Is this normal when using a CL - 6 bolt adapter?

Never seen it in any 6 bolt adapter I've used.

I'd be careful if there is any play at all in an adapter. I had a rotor flex to the point it jumped the pins and rotated. The lockring was still tight, but it jumped the pegs anyways. That was using an Alligator adapter.

If you can spare the coin, I'd get the DT-Swiss adapters. The posts are longer (but cut partially away so the lockring will still fit) so the rotor won't jump the pegs. If you have a 15mm front hub, they have a second model for those.
Thanks - I didn't think it was normal. I have another rotor to try first (quick and easy anyway) - if that don't do it will check out the DT-Swiss adapter.

To be clear, the movement is "rotational" as in the tire can rotate a little on the axle. It's not lateral back and forth wobble.

Could still be a tightness issue. Is there a washer that did not get installed?
All fixed - it was a tightness issue, and a stupid mistake on my part.
I reread the instructions - that adaptor is supposed to be torqued to 40 nm. I must have been looking at the wrong thing first time around as I thought it was lower. Guess it's time for new glasses!
Mavic 6 bolt adapter issue

Had the same problem with my mavic crossrides, eventually the play would cause the rotors to come loose, after experimenting with different torque settings and lock-tight I gave up and bought splined rotors, sorted!!
