Good times indeed. You rode Alpine Trail. But if memory serves, you missed Moon Point, Lawler, Middle Fork, Larison Rock, Hardesty Mountain, Maiden Peak, Goodman Creek, Indigo Lake, Eagle's Rest, The Twins, Eula Ridge, Tire Mountain, Suzanne Lake, Saddleblanket Mountain, Charlton Lake, North Fork, Salmon Creek, Larison Creek, Sawtooth, Windy Pass, Bunchgrass, Eugene to Crest, Waldo Lake, South Willamette, etc.

Oakridge lies in the center of all of 'em.

Yes, by all means come back and this time you'll need about a month. September will do nicely. Please confirm your arrival so I can arrange to {cough} take the month off to show you around {cough}. ;)

Or there's Mountain Bike Oregon, July 27-29 and August 17-19, 2007. Y'all come back now, y'hear?

-Crested Butte
-Telluride
-Santa Cruz, CA
-Oakridge, OR
-Devils Gulch, near Leavenworth, WA

I guess if I HAD to choose my favorite all time riding spot it would be Crested Butte.

1: Surf on over to the 29er board and look at Mikesee's "Rode" thread. Then come back in the summer and hit up the Brian Head stuff, Marathon trail, and Virgin River Rim. Head west and ride Thunder Mountain.

2: Another summer trip: Mt Elden north of Flagstaff. My second favorite riding in Arizona thus far. First is the AZ trail and Rainbow rim on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. So come do this: http://kaibabmonstercross.blogspot.com.

3: The Maah Daah Hey trail in North Dakota.

Places to ride

Eureka Springs AR has got to be on your list. The whole town appears to be having some kind of festival at all times. The entire downtown area is listed in the National Registry of historic places. And the Lake Leatherwood Trail System is the epitome of singletrack in the Southeast. There are so many trails to ride and so many variations of trail requiring a bunch of different skills that I don't think you could master any of them on just one trip. Every trail around the lake has a different flow about it. And if you stay at the Tall Pines Inn the owners (mtn bikers) can tell you all of the really good rides. (Not that theres a stinker in the bunch)

Mt St Helens

Ride on the flanks of a live volcano.

Once in the Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, there is a month of riding with views all over. Close to our local trails too, 50+ miles of technical singletrack.

Just a humble plug :)

Other places I've been that are must do's, at least once in your life

Moab, UT - Porcupine Ridge
St George, UT - Strawberry Mesa
Oakridge, OR - Alpine Trail
Bellingham, WA - Galbraith

No mention of places East of the Mississippi yet?!?
Some of my favorites:

GW National Forrest, VA
Rothrock State Park, PA
Douthat State Park, VA

Here's a slideshow from a ride at Elizabeth Furnace.

I would also like to ride at Pisgah someday..."

Pisgah is definately on my list. East Coast riding is awesome (grew up in NOVA and went to JMU)....I learned to ride in both the GW as well as Douthat...soooo much good riding out there. Partook in the Shenandoah Mtn 100 back in '04 and although I didn't come close to finishing (55 of the hardest miles ever), all the trails rocked.

Places I need to go:
-The French Alps
-Whistler
-Costa Rica
-Washington (St Helens)
-Bootleg Cyn, NV
-Sun Valley, ID
-Snowshoe, WV (can't believe I never went)
-St George, UT
-Hood River, OR
-More in OR that I have yet to find
-Lots of other places I have yet to go

Places I can cross off:
-Moab
-Grand Junction
-Fruita
-Durango
-GW Forest
-Douthat
-Santa Cruz
-SLO, CA, and surrounding areas
-Mammoth Mtn
-Tahoe
-Cleavland NF, Whale's Vagina
-Cannan Valley, WV
-Oakridge, OR
-Bend, OR is pretty cool too

Me like bikey.

Sedona and Tucson are missing. Now, I'd suggest a couple of days in each of those
with a midpoint stop in Phoenix and an endpoint stop in Flagstaff.

Tucson day 1: Green Mountain/Prison Camp/Molino Basin/Miligrosa
Tucson day 2: The playground of Golder Ranch

Phoenix day 1: A South Mountain tour
Phoenix day 2: (not sure, but check the AZ board)

Sedona day 1: Who cares? It's all BEAUTIFUL. And it's quite the playground!
Sedona day 2: Who cares? It's all BEAUTIFUL. Pick some trails and GO!

Flagstaff day 1: Mt Eldon
Flagstaff day 2: more Mt Eldon

(note: I haven't ridden Flag yet but I hear from great sources that it's the whip. My first
attempt was aborted due to wildfires and my second attempt was aborted due to rain. :madman: )

In all, AZ is a must ride state that can be a fabulous vacation.

Yes I would have to put St Helens up there on the top. What a great day!

Tahoe is on the list as well.

I'd add Sedona as well.

Also I have yet to ride somewhere I hated in Oregon. Its all gorgeous!
