Pismo/SLO trails??

Heading up there next week for the family vacation and will definitely be bringing the bikes! Anyone know what the scoop is on trails in the area? I was given a website with like 20 trails on it: http://mountainbikeslocounty.com ... Which of them would you recommend? We're XC dudes that love to climb! Thanks in advance!

Never been there myself, once had a neighbor that highly recommended Montana de Oro State Park---he'd make the trip from norcal at least a couple of times a year. He said it was a bit crowded on the weekends, much less so mid-week. It borders the Pacific so there's lots to do for everybody (family vacation!?!?).
you're the second guy that's said something about montana de oro.. definitely gonna have to check it out!

we don't have a big fam.. just me and my pops ride. we'll be camped on Pismo with the toys. looking forward to a week on two wheels! :)
I am working or I would join you guys on a ride. Check out www.CCCMB.ORG for trail maps. Best riding is MDO for nice cross country loop. Hazard is a fun trail to go down and easy climb up. For more strenous loop there is West Cuesta Ridge where you go up Elevator to Shooters-TV tower road- then down Morning Glory. Other good place this time of year is Cerro Cabrillo.
Cerro alto is a sick ride too. Tough long climb ~1700 ft, turn around and drop down a super fast flowy ripping descent. If you really like climbing, climb up cerro alto, down TV tower road to morning glory, down that and then back up shooters, back over to cerro alto and down.

Jefe how long is that loop you are talking about? Have thought about doing that but not sure how much time would need? And what would it be like if started at Shooters to Cerro Alto then back down MG? Elevation gain has got to be up there.

Around 4 hours plus or minus from town [SLO]:

Poly Cyn>RR tracks>Stagecoach>Cuesta Ridge>Cerro Alto>Cuesta Ridge>Powerline>"other places">@ Cuesta College>Hwy 1>town.

How would some out of towners find that trail combo?
Put a paddle tire on and go roost the sandrails!
MDO is great but like someone said, it'll be super dusty in the summer. Up Madonna from marsh parking lot and down rockgarden to lemon grove is pretty sweet. solid climb up and a techy descent.

If I had to choose one ride I'd go with poly canyon to elevators up shooters to the TV towers and down morning glory. a fun climb along a ridge with an unforgettable ride back down.

PM me if you want directions
