It seems that I will be getting white lowers on my freshly rebuilt 66SL and that doesn't bode well with the fashion police.

I found a local PC shop that will do it up for $25 so what do I get?

1st choice - Polished w/ clear PC. However, I read that if it is more than 20% magnesium that it won't polish. Anyone know the alloy Zocchi uses for the lowers?

2nd choice - Gold Dust Orange to match the frame. Too much orange?

3rd choice - wrinkle finish black. Flat black with lots of texture.

Other ideas?

I'm with Alpenglow on this one. Keep the white. BTW, I just sent my 66SL in last week. I've been told it will be about a 2 week turn around. I hope! The good thing is that I live in SoCal so UPS ground shipping is next day. Nice!

Good luck. I was told 2 weeks also. Thursday is 5 weeks!

What was there reasoning for white lowers? I assume no more black lowers! Oh well! When do you expect to get your fork back?

As far as the color goes...I don't think white would be too bad. Maybe change the TURNER stickers to white as well. That might balance it out a bit more.

the white will look fine id say. i like g's sticker idea too. blue and orange is a classic look. remember the gulf porsche's and mirage's from the 60's and 70's? maybe more of a medium blue though.

Out of black lowers with no ETA for more black. I expect it Monday - we'll see if that was more BS.

I JUST put those chrome stickers on! They stay. Fork color change is only $25 and can be done locally.

Sounds like you've identified the only real solution: paint the frame.

I like the sound of the wrinkle finish black. I was planning on sending mine in this week but not for no five week wait. My fork isn't very sticky. I'll wait for the off season or just forget about the whole thing.... 5 weeks is more than half of what's left of the summer:nono:
