nice pictures they are a little dark but thats ok. hows the riding out in Australia never been there so i dont know whats its like but its seems like it would be killer
yeh we dont have much or any resort riding with chair lifts and stuff like in the US...

but the stuff we do have is wicked...the stuff i ride is what ive built with my mates...coz thats all we have...but even our trails are good...we have heaps of land and have some nice stuff liek the doubles the boys are jumping in the pics...

anyways youll see the good stuff later when i take pics of it tomorrow...

oh and we have heaps of rockgardens...and stuff...
well you still have more then i do here in washington i have no lifts i think the closest is whistler and since they beefed up security today its gonna even worst going across the border and in dont want to end up like WCH and be kicked out of canada.. and i have no land to build on and none of my friends are into mountain biking.... yeah it suck where i live so i have to look at all the pics people post and wish i was there so post some more pics as soon as you take them :D
Looks pretty sweet... Wish I could give you some pointers, but I'm photographically challenged. I like the backlighting at sunset look. Reminds me of some of Shuntavi's work. Keep posting, cause it's nice to avoid work by looking at riding pics :D
shots look pretty good. I would recommend that your silhouettes be just that, silhouettes. You really shouldn't see any of the detail of the subject(should be all black). Gives it a better effect and doesn't appear grainy or noisy. Make sense?

You shooting digital or film? Contact your mag and ask what they are looking for media wise. Lots of pubs still want slides and are less likely to look at a cd full of digital images. Get yourself a portfolio together(online and a physical one) and just start beating down doors. Sounds like you are still young so you have plenty of time to get your foot in the door.

Best of luck. And look at Shuntavis work if you haven't already. Just be sure and develop hyour own style. Something that sets you apart.
I like em

Go for it, I think the shots are awsome, and for one gramatica likes the shot where hes looking at the lens. might be a better shot wit a bit more or less light tho.
seems like they're under exposed, i don't know if thats what you were going for or not though, but the sky's exposed as it would be under normal conditions, but the backlighting darkened your figures, don't know if thats what you were after or not though like a said, decent picks though
thanks guys...

yeah...using some photo programs i was able to darken only the rider and make him just a silhouette with out effetecing the background....

ive been shooting digital...on a cannon ixux v3 3.2 megapixels...but im conning mum into getting me a cannon EOS 300D...is that as good as i think it is...and where a good places to get cheap cameras...

but it was getting really dark and the only light we could really see was to the west behind some trees about 2km away so there wasnt much light at all...i guess thats why tthey were so dark...its sunny as at the moment tho so in about 5min when i go riding i should be able to get some real goodies...

thanks for the help so far guys...

(see red5 and WCH im not just a post whore... :D )
I think if you got that last pic of the second set with the guy doing a huge ass whip, it would be a golden shot. But be sure to keep the trees out of it. It looks like there just flying then.

what like the last pic...
as far as getting a camera i'd suggest going with something completely manual, manual focus, shutter speed, asa, and f-stop. learning to use a manual camera well will give you far more film options, and will give you a better background in photography. to solve the problems with the darkened rider lightened sky, you keep the exposure the same, and up the film ASA and/or open the shutter depending on light levels. scope www.calumetphoto.com for some info and whatnot. just my two cents as an amatuer photographer.

thanks...
