It is a great combo, loving mine. Previously was running the Sir with the steel fork. I liked that, but the carbon fork is noticeable in terms of how much lighter the front end is, and how much more precise.

Thanks for the pic, I'm gettin a deal on a tang frame and am trying to now decide on the white fork or the tang fork. BTW, that bike is beautiful. Is that a stock or aftermarket bash guard on that crankset?

Bretty- It's the standard polycarbonate guard for FSA cranksets...

Since this pic was taken this bike has gotten a serious makeover with XTR cranks, AC wheels, Juicy 7s and a bunch of FSA K-Force carbon parts. Down to just about 20lbs!

I know this thread is old, but I'm about to order a large SIR9 in "niner green", with a rigid fork. seriously debating between the carbon and the steel fork. Been riding a 3.7lb suspension fork, so either will be a huge improvement, but just can't decide. I am looking mostly for a more supple feel, rather than a super-rigid precision fork. If they are similar in feel, i will flip a coin.

While I was waiting for the carbon fork to become available I temporarily put a Surly steel fork on my SIR9.

Basic impressions are that any rigid fork will feel, well rigid. You will feel more difference from tyre volume and pressure.

What the carbon fork does for me is lighten the front end and looks absolutely superb in matching green.

If you can afford the carbon and don't prefer the classic look of the steel fork then go for it.

SIR 9 with Rigid Carbon fork has to be my favorite bike set up. As the previous poster noted, tyre pressure/volume will do wonders in fine-tuning the ride quality.

I also have a Tang Jet with White and I think the color scheme is quite nice. I'd say a Tang SIR with White fork/accents would look great. But I am biased.
