Has anyone been to Picket Post recently? I haven't been there in a long time & was wondering what condition it was in. Its a ride I really enjoy. Thanks

Bring shin protection for catclaw.
Rode out there @ 3 weekends ago. Trail was in great shape with the usual bouts with the occasional catclaw. Should be primo following the weekend rain...that is if the horseys stay off the trail till it dries out a bit.

Occasional cat claw?? How far out did you go? Cenobite, Trigirl, and I hit HEAVY cat claw at about 8 miles, maybe 2 months ago. I'd love to get out there again though, with some leg armor of course.

Not sure mileage but we made it to the high point before entering the canyon where you have to climb your way out via a number of sharp switchbacks. So I'm guessing we may have turned around before the heavy carnage you're describing. We only ran into a handful of shredders up to that point.

Yeah, it's a bit after you do that climb out that it got nasty, after crossing the road. Fun trail though, one of my favorites. Part of it's appeal to me is the fact that you run into very few other people out there, I like the seclusion and solitude.
A couple of Tucson based Bikepackers are looking for a place to do an overnighter with some trail work. Hoping to clean things up for this springs AZT races. After first reading this it sounded like we should head up that way. But now it sounds like most of the real work is farther out, we only use the first 7 miles as we come in on Telegraph Canyon. From the sound of things you guys are finding most of the nastiness farther out. If that is true there is another spot down south that might be a better use of our time. Thanks for the info that is a sweet piece of trail. Maybe I'll still do a day trip just to prune some of the 7 miles the racers will use.
Just returned from the trail this Saturday. The lower 7 miles is good, above the Telegragh Canyon rd is where it is still nasty. It was in good condition, more horse traffic then I've seen in the past, but still ok.
Thanks for the update sounds like you hit the one day when a group of horse riders choose to head out as well.

Sounds like we should work that nasty section in the Canelo's instead.
