Jenni and I will be riding Hole In The Ground this coming Sunday. We'd love to see some of the Bay Area homies if they want to make the drive and go for a mellow ride with lots of photo stops. The plan is for a (more or less) 10 AM start.

I haven't ridden HITG for 7 or 8 years. Can you still park next to the fire station at the Soda Springs exit? If so, that's where we'll be.

Who's in?!

You must still be high from all that mountain air? :D

Can't/Not too sure, this Sunday? Sheesh, short notice man. I'm out of school and actually have a degree and a job, but still havn't bought what we had talked about (D-5). How about we wait until some of us working stiffs are off of work and grab something to eat/drink..

..maybe even get in some "Photo-Tag" while you're here?

Where's this?

Better yet, this? :D

Oh, and just in case I haven't said this enough times..

"F-Stop That!"

Bummer

I know it's late notice. Sorry about that.

Not sure where either of those photos were taken. I don't know who's pump track that is. But I'd like to :)

The little reservoir? No idea. My first thought was Annadel but I think it's too small.

We'll probably be there on Sunday. Not 100% on that at the moment though.

Yes, you can still park by the fire station.
You can also park closer to Truckee (80 and Donner Lake Rd exit) (this is not the Boreal exit, but another one closer to town) and ride a section of trail out to HITG. I think it's called the DLRT (Donner Lake Rim Trail).
It's a super sweet section if you like technical riding. It adds a few miles and some climbing. Part of it can be done as a fairly flat out and back added onto the normal HITG loop too.

The track is Zorg's and the reservoir's at Coyote Hills, seriously, HITG's a better ride. Hit me up if you'll be in town through Tuesday so we can try to hook up for a little in the evening.

*Maybe ask Zorg if you can ride it? Take photo's, etc?

Better yet, you park a car off of 80 at the Donner Lake exit (I think that's the name) and park the other car at the top, ride the HITG, and then finish with the DLRT down back to the first car. Sweet sweet single track.

I'm in. That shuttle sounds good. I haven't done that last piece of single track.

I can do 4 people and bikes with my car/racks.

A better place to park is taking the same exit, but go straight at the stop sign & park in the lot on the left. There's a gas station there, & an inn w/ good beer on tap. It's a huge lot, & it's out where everyone can see the cars, not hidden away like the lot by the fire station. Been some break-ins there. :madmax:

Sounds like a good time! Hmmmmm.

you can also go further down passed the gas station and park at the old general store looking place. then you ride up and over boreal or sugarbowl? and descend down and under the freeway to the start of hitg. Nice way to add 800-1200 footies to hitg.

Right, that's the way I'm thinking- you ride up the road a bit & turn left at the snow station or something like that? It's a fire road the takes you to the big Boreal parking lot, then under the freeway, like you said.

Edit: PJ, we could add a section of the Donner Lake Trail, out to Summit Lake- it would add about 4 miles. It's an out 'n' back, but it's very scenic & fun. HitG isn't that long & it would make for a more satisfying ride.

Our plans have changed, and we will not be riding HITG on Sunday.

That's a must do section of the trail. Don't skip it.

No Internet

I'm on the road right now with no Internet so I wanted to check in. I'm not going to change the ride because that complicates things for me and non-Mtbr people who may be coming. Plus, Jenni and I did 6 hours on Long Flume yesterday and I'm pretty tired. If anyone wants to ride their own ride, shuttle or add on a bit, that's fine. Jenni and I will be doing standard HITG. I haven't done it for 7 or 8 years so it's gonna be like new for me, anyway :)

I am concerned about break-ins, so moving across the highway to the parking lot / gas station Pinchy suggested is a good idea. So meet us there at about 10 AM on Sunday if you want to ride with us. Racers should know this will be a pokey photo ride.

Reminder - no Internet so this will be my last post in this thread before the ride.
