That’s a new one to me. I didn’t know mountains were above 6000 feet.

I've heard that high elevation really helps keep your glasses from fogging! ;)
Interested in why 6k and which possible venues fall either side of that line.
Rules are about ensuring a neutral competition and altitude affords a huge advantage to select competitors.

The high school down the street has a sign in the gym that reads, "elevation 5758'" to intimidate visiting Flatlander teams.
The first world is hard.
If the below 6k feet thing happens, USAC will just move the venue to Apex Park in Golden, but they won't close it to hikers. Won't somebody think of the children?

University of Wyoming sits at 7220 feet and has a similar sign in their football stadium.

Where's the petition to ban Wyoming from having any home games? o_O
