Just got this image of the front page of Bike Magazine showing part of a trail in Peru that we like to ride. This ride is "close" to Lima just 4 hours away driving on a narrow dirt road up to 3,550m (11,650ft) and the trail goes all the way to the Pacific Ocean at 0m. The total accumulated descend of this ride is 3,800m (12,470ft.), possibly the biggest descend on earth and this is why everybody gets impressed!

Yeah, no trees here. Maybe one or two that we can see from our ride.... This is a dessert area and as you can see the trail at the end gets very sandy and rocky. Maybe something that you can't find in Whistler

If you want trees, there are some epic rides close to the jungle. Not only trees, also Pumas, Jaguars, etc

Peru is beautiful out in the country/jungle area. Always thought about riding out there, but never had time to get my bike out there.

Been 2 summers in a row....may have to make it 3 now,,

I rode down Mt haleakala in Maui last year and that was a 10k descent. Simply amayzing

I'm very interested! How long is it to shuttle drop off? I would imagine pretty long due to the remoteness of the area.

THat´s true, it's a very remote area and takes around 3 to 4 hours to get to the start of the trail. At the end the shuttle is just 50 minutes back to Lima.

I'm making this ride hundred of times and everytime I enjoy like the first day!

A place I would like to ride. Kinda like Fruita, Monarch Crest (Salida, CO) and South Mountain, (Phoenix, AZ) combined.

It almost looks like the Chilean desert where it rains about every ten years.
