Do you mean platform or clipless? Or a specific model? 90% of the people will tell you to go clipless. Do a search on clipless, there have bene numerous discussions on it. As far as pedals, most people will say either shimano or crank bros. I have a set of shimano pd-m545. They're a bit on the heavy side but haven't given me any problems thus far.

good luck!

I like Egg Beaters or Bee Bops if you are a weight weenie and Time Atacs if you are not. I have beaters on my MTB and Bee Bops (they are like Frogs) on my road bike.

Depending on what type of riding you do. So could be flats, clipless. I know of one very good rider who still digs his toe clips (I wouldn't recommend them but if it works it works)
Personally I like the ATACs. Used the SPD for a few years but my knees like the float on the ATACs. Been with that pedal for about 4 years now.
