Pedals for a big guy

Hello, I am a heavy set guy, 6'0" 250 lbs, and I am looking into upgrading my pedals but I am concerned about my weight. I ride my bike, Trek 4500, to work at times and I ride trails on the weekends. I want a strong pedal that can handle abuse and my weight since the pedals that came on this bike suck. Thanks in advance.

I can do better than just pedals for big guys... how about a whole forum just for us?

are you looking for flats or clipless? if clipless go spd (shimano) cant go wrong I'm 250+ and beat the crap out of my 10+year old 520's on a weekly basis.........
