I'm starting to build a bike from the ground up....i've notice that the crankset i'm looking at comes with 170 and 175 pedal length....how do you dictate which length would be best for a person....i'm a short ass at 5 10 and 29" inseam......if that matters...lol

some basic stuff

175 is easier to pedal due to lverage ratios. If your Bottom Bracket (BB) is low to the ground, you may want 170mm to ensure you aren't tagging the cranks/pedals on downstrokes in technical terrain.

Most bikes use 175mm as standard, but I can't tell you which ones to get. Jim 5-10 and 31" inseam.

I do use 170mm on my FR bike as the frame sits low to the ground for centre of gravity gain. Normal bikes wouldn't need that, I don't think.
