Shimano Octalink BB-ES25 Bottom Bracket GT Peace 9r

The BB that I removed from my 2008 Peace 9r Multi was a 68 x 121mm (Model BB-ES 25-AK). Hope that helps.
Confirmed.

I seem to be having BB problems as well. My LBS (Cayuse Cycles) was nice enough to pull everything apart for me (at no cost!) and confirmed that the part was a 68/121 Shimano BB-ES25 Bottom Bracket.

So, are we limited to this specific bottom bracket? Do we have to change cranks just to install an upgraded BB? Other options? If there aren't other options, should I invest in the necessary tool(s) and be prepared to throw in a new BB every other month? What specific tools do I need?

I hope my next one lasts for more than 350 miles...

It looks like I'm going to be replacing my own bottom bracket for the Peacer 9r, so I'm just compiling a little info...

It appears that the Shimano BB-ES51 can also be used, but I have no idea whether it is an appreciable improvement. I do know, however, it is quite a bit more expensive than the BB-ES25. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I replaced mine with an LX intergrated crank/BB. I forget the model #, but it was originally a touring crank with a 48/36/26 set up. I took off the 48T ring and replaced it with a bash guard, then swapped the 26T for a 22T. It fits perfectly. I guess the touring crankset was wider than most standard mountain cranks, but as it turns out, the BB shell on the Peace is also pretty wide. Its another idea to think about.
