FIP 6am McKellips and Ellsworth entrance.

6am sharp, be done 9-9:30ish. This means a steady but not insane pace. Sessioning and playing around within that timeframe, Cat's Peak loop optional depending on our time.

This is a hard intermediate\advanced ride, for both tech and cardio. Search the forum etc. for descriptions of Pass Mtn.

Sounds like a good way to break up the week. I love PM but hate climbing which means I should ride it more to get better. I'd love to join for this ride if that's cool. I am always reading about the rides and comparing them to rides of my own. I recently lost my riding buddy to a blown knee for 6-9 months and it is about time to break out of my shell and ride with some new people. Let me know exactly where the meeting point is and I will be there. I have always started from inside the park so I am not sure where the ride in point is.
Have a great ride! We started that loop at 7am yesterday and it was definitely too hot (and an hour too late)...
I'm in. If any one needs a ride from the Tukee area hit me up.

.
cool this will be fun. Sounds like we have 4-5 right now incl. my non-mtbr bud, and everyone has a notion of what this ride entails.

here is the meeting spot:

On Mckellips, just west of the turn onto Crismon, you will see some dirt parking on the south side of the road. Don't leave any valuables in your car, bring a dollah for the self-pay machine.

Here is a trail map:

The route will be Levee Trail to Noso to the horse staging area, Pass Mtn clockwise. We're rolling at 6 (ok maybe 6:02), if you are late catch up I'm sure we will session a few things. PM me if you want my cell.
Hey, I might be able to make this as well.

Puzzy;)

Me and Kort hit up National last week with a 10am start time. (That will be THE LAST time this summer I do that, lol)
My Thursday just opened up, I want a play. I'll be there.
I'm out.....checked my email this morning, need to head into work early. Have fun folks.

Lx3. I will wave riding by your house to the TH
well Maad redeemed himself by showing up and riding for awhile. We had 6 others - EDR, surfndave, Kort, me, Alex and Chris. It was fun, but soupy - we got lucky with overcast for most of the ride. EDR (Jamie) rode real strong today, the rest of us pretty solid but nothing exceptional. I did ride to\fron the TH, adding about an hour of road work (yeah!). We saw 2 hikers the whole time. Dave's window unfortunately was smashed while we were gone, and Alex went OTB trying a log in the horsey parking lot.
Hey....it's not like I could not get up early....I was up at 5 to tell you I could not ride...but still had time to do some big ring turnin and say hi. As for the truck, that sux about the window.....I forgot to tell you that my route out of Bulldog canyon took me through some wildcat neighborhoods where, I'm guessing, half the tweekers in east Mesa live. Mobile homes with stars n' bars flying....so very 21st century. Guess the lot where you all parked is just a little too close to a safe get-a-way for the PC crowd east of Idaho road.

the weird thing was that only Dave's car got hit, and they went right for his wallet where he stashed it. Dave's car is nice but average. Made us wonder if they were watching while we pulled up?

this was the first time I rode to the TH - kinda better than 10 minutes in the car each way + loading\unloading when that bs is going on.
Sucks. Glad no one got hurt on the ride. I've parked twice on the S side of McKellips at Crismon. There's a helluva lot of broken-out car glass in that area. I won't park there again. It's probably worth the $6 to park in the park itself.

Yeah, in hindsight it is better. Damn tweakers suck! I can't believe his was the only truck hit. It's not like he left anything of value in sight. The window was smashed and the console was open, weird.

I guess that's the last time I'll park there. It's just not worth the hassle should anything happen. I have parked off the side of Usery Rd towards the horsie parking area. There is a small pull off with an entrance. I have no idea if that area is safer but I haven't seen any glass there. I suspect since it's right on the highway that all the traffic makes it far less tempting for someone to stop and bother with anything there, after all the place we parked today offers a much quieter location with a quick get away.

Anyhow, great ride! Three Yeti's showed up, the weather was perfect (for AZ in June) and I felt really good today. Going to bed at 9:30 pm does that for me, lol. Hope to join in on the next ride.
Alex and I have a good friend who lives about a mile away, we often start the ride there. I think at Brown rd. there are some gas stations\convenience stores. Tempting to plant a bait car there and hide in the bushes then kick the living $h!t out of someone...but riding to the TH overall sounds better and better since I can hit RWB or Lucky Lou's on the way home :D

Unfortunately, I don't think people even file police reports for this sort of thing anymore so there are probably far fewer documented incidents that the police could use as a basis for patrolling. And even if they did patrol, this happens so fast itd be pretty hard to get caught.

the thing I never liked about parking inside the park (money aside) is it makes it a really short loop that takes about 1.5 hrs. $6 for a long day like Goat Camp is cool, but I barely want to get in my car for something that short.
Had a great ride with everyone today. Thanks for being patient with my "slowness" syndrome I am trying to overcome. This was my fourth ride at PM and I always feel tested but at the end of the day I still love the "Good Pain" it provides. Thanks again, I'll work on my lungs and endurance and catch you guys on another ride in the future.

When any of you are ready to ride the "trail that must not be named" on the westside hit me up and I will give you directions. It is worth the ride. I would bet a cold one on it!

I hear ya. I like starting from where we did, it's just that the meth heads make it a downer.

Hey, Irish. Props to you for driving all the way in for this one, I guess we owe you one. Still......west side? It just sounds so foreign and far away, like another country :p

Goat Camp? Hmmm...We should do this as a group in the fall. That d/h is a real challenge. I know I walked a number of times my only time out there.
Hey, I had a great ride, and it was great to finely meet and ride with those of you I’ve come to know through this web site. What I learned today. I get out of shape quick when I don’t ride for 6 weeks or so. The guys I rode with today are all very good tech riders and stronger than most, and oh yea one more thing.

FCUK TWEEKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took the day off with the intent of doing this ride, studying a technical course I’m taking, and getting some relaxing in. But instead I’ve been on the phone with BofA, Visa, Amex, Progressive Auto Ins, at the DMV and finely the SSN office. Also at the car wash vacuum. After I talked to the bank once, I had to call back because I realized that I had a blank check stuffed in one of the pockets of my wallet. On this second call I was told that someone had attempted to use my card at Kmart for an $800 purchase. So I went to the Kmart near Power RD and the 60. What do ya know, some dood (covered in tattoos) and his girlfriend (covered in scabs) that was the way the clerk described them, tried to purchase a flat screen TV. According to the clerk they tried three times each time bring up a lower cost TV to the counter, and each time the card was declined. She said that she suggested that they use the card as a debit card, but they said it was not a debit and it didn’t work that way. A hello, tip off I’d say. That was at 9:20, I had canceled that card about 10 minutes before that.

Anyway, it’s all good now. I was liking that parking spot and the trail we took in. I have parked there before (without incident), but I had taken another trail into the trail head. This trail today was much better. I like Chollaball’s idea of a bait car. But the reality is that would be a lot of work, and really no payoff. Any way I still want to relax so, I got just enough time for a nap, so I’m going to go get some. Once again it, great ride today. Later.
