hey guys i just wanted to know how to tell the 2 apart? Just want to make sure i get the rite tire.

Will the tire have printed on it where it is made? Japan , Taiwan?

Will it say the TPI on it?

Is the 127 tpi a foldable tire and the 66 is not ?

any answers will help

TIA

The 66 tpi tires are made in Taiwan and have colored flames on the label. The 127 version is made in Japan and has an all white label.

The 66 tpi is an OEM only tire so should not be at your LBS unless they took them off a bike. Some mail order shops have the OEM tire.

It will say "Made in Japan" on the sidewall and also the lettering of Fire XC Pro looks like its put on with chalk, not the fine detail painted printing on the cheaper versions with 66tpi. I believe their are both wire bead and kevlar bead 66tpi versions. I've usually got the good ones from Jenson for $22 each.
ok thanks alot. guys.

so as long as it is made in japan i should be ok .

I hope they are as good as everyone says they are......

.I hope they are much better then the Hutchison Scorpions i have
i have the 66tpi version. i just got them and have about 120 miles on them and so far they have performed great. what exactly is wrong with them?
This discussion always makes me sad ...

Because Bicycle Garage Indy ripped me off by selling me OEM Fires at full price!!!!! They're still decent tires though.
Dude, Jenson's got 'em cheap. These are the best UST tires I've ever used. Stick to freaking everything!

Actually, I have 66TPI Fires with all white labels. I just got another pair of 66TPI from PricePoint with the detailed flame labels. I don't think Panaracer has been consistent with labeling.
Am I mistaken in assuming that the 66TPI will be more supple and sticky?
I have 2 sets of the Japanese ones with two kinds of marking. I have the Taiwanese ones as well. Obviously, I am a fan of these. Aside from weight and price, I really see no difference between the two. If anything, one of the Japanese pair started drying out and cracking at the knobs before all the others.
I saw some at performance bike with the chalk white labels and it also said It was made in Japan. So if its chalk and its says made in Japan. It's 127 too ?
