I want to start an ongoing thread where we can all share info on painting bicycles. I know a lot of the pro builders outsource their paint but a lot of amateur builders would like to paint their own frames. Please include any info that could help, like what products you use, your process, masking techniques and bicycle specific tips and tricks.

You probably can't legally paint a bike in your municipality (unless you live in Taiwan).

to not do your lungs, and your immediate environs irreparable harm, you need a full paint booth with all the bells and whistles.

You can however build a home powdercoating setup for a grand or so. I'd recommend starting there.

There are lots of resources out there, but tend to be scattered around a bit.

I tend to post paint process pics often on my blog...feel free to scroll through the last couple of years and you'll see plenty of tips/tricks/pitfalls.
