Paging: Evil4BC, TNC, ShiverMeTimbers, and anyone with some Marzocchi knowledge!

I have a 2004 Z1 FR that was in a wreck this past weekend:smallviolin:. I some how managed to break off the right rebound cap and everything attached to it. This included the gold cap, screw, and top part of the internal dampening rod:madman:. I finished the ride and the dampening was still right on par. I have taken the fork apart and realize that the fork is still perfect minus the small internal rod.

I was wondering if it was possible to order just the internal rod from the right leg of the hscv dampening system. I do not need the whole cartridge and probably could not afford it. Anyone know if this is possible? Any idea on price? Anyone have a solution or homemade fix?

I know the part you're referring to, but you'll have to check with Marz or someone on the forum who's had to try to order the same thing. Since that's a very likely thing to do in a crash, you'd think you could get that part...I mean after all...the rebound cap is attached to it where it can be broken off. As possible as that seems though, I can't remember anyone on the forum mentioning a similar incident. That would suck to have to buy the whole cart. I have that same cart in a modified Z150SL...here's a pic with the cap attached. I notice it has a stop when you try to back the rebound cap and rod all the way out...and I don't recall that cart having the capacity to be opened up. I think my Super T and Monster had the ability to back that rod all the way out, but they have a different top cap design with a set screw. That's all I got for now. Maybe someone else has been in the same boat.

Oh...and the suggestion that SMT has Marzocchi knowledge...well...that's just crazy.:D

sorry to hear........best to take pictures and show us what you got.......
not sure how or if they correlate, but i did the same to a 2000 Z1CR and the only solution offered by marzo was a whole new cart. i said "eff it" turned the broken side into a dummy leg and made a lake jumper out of it.......
Thanks for the input so far. Here is a pic of the internal rod I am talking about. It is completely removable from the cartridge without any force. This rod is actually what you screw the top cap into and it sticks out of the fork on the 2004 Z1 FR.

I thought SMT was just a Shiver troll.

Another picture of the rod. This is what it looks like before being broken at the top.

nah not entirely.....................some you can take and seperate the rod and others you need to replace the cartridge
I don't think you can just buy the rod becuase I see the part as a whole. I am not sure if this part number is still the same, but call marzocchi and see what they say.

This is the part number I got for the 2004 Z1 FR you have and it's pretty much the whole cartridge with rod, and I also think the little red nut comes with it too.

Part number: 703693KM/C

he is. the problem is that some people see his +20,000 posts and think he actually knows something. when it comes down to it, he always says "call marzocchi" that alone should let you know he doesn't really know sh!t about their forks.....

nah here is why I say that.......some people do more damage trying to fix stuff when they are not really mechanically inclined.....

You couldn't ride your way out of a wet paper bag, let alone wrench your way out of one.
