is the Davidson River area a good place for "Intermediates" to ride? I will be riding with my girlfriend and she doesn't ride really technical areas. I was wondering what Pisgah trails offer good cross country runs that aren't too technical. I have ridden Dupont and I have also ridden Dark Mountain in Wilkesboro and I love those areas. Also, where is the best place for camping/riding in Pisgah? Thanks so much!
Go to Bent Creek

Bent Creek Research Forest - Lake Powhatan is the campground in nice and the trials are right there! there is everything from easy to moderately technical stuff and Ingles Field Gap is one of the best downhills there.
Asheville hwy 191 south of the Asheville mall.
If you are careful in your selection, you can find some non-tech stuff close to Davidson.

If you go up Black Mtn to Thift Cove, follow it to a hard left that goes up grassy single track and intersects Sycamore Cove, and then follow Sycamore cove(left again) back to 176, she shouldn't have to get off except for some of the technical stuff (creek crossing and the like) near the very end of Sycamore. That's 8-10 miles, I'm guessing.

Also, climbing gravel 475B up to Seinard Ridge (double track) and back to near the bottom of 475B, or the semi-tech Caney Bottom would get you 10-12 miles.

And of course, there are plenty of challenging gravel loops if she doesn't mind climbing.
