Hey everyone.

Well as the title suggests i am looking for some rider input on the Giant Faith 3. I test rode the bike in a parking lot... loved it. Rode down some stairs, but nothing too exciting. So to cut short, i am looking for personal rider points on the bike.

The max i am spending is $2500CAD. Also, i know the fork isn't the best, but please do not b*tch about it. It's all i can afford.

Thanks alot fellow riders.

BUMP^^^

Come on guys... I need your input! I know you guys have experience riding them.
What do you want to know mate. If you just want reassurance well it is a nice bike. The frame is exactly the same as the F1. So you can always upgrade at a later date if need be.
My mate rides an F3 & once we set the fork up right it is sweet for the money. In Australia the F3 came with a Marzochi Drop out. (I think) I ride an F1 but like I said same frame. She'll be right mate, just go for it. But I hope you are riding mainly downhill because you know she's a big girl to push up hill.

If your worried about quality of components, save your $CAN and get a F2 or F1. The components will pay off. The money it takes to upgrade to the equivelant models are going to cost almost as much as the F3 itself. You can always try to find a previous years model in a couple months, the 1 and 2 models should be available at prices that are in your price range. I don't have a Faith, I'm a Reign rider, but I'm glad I got the R2 over the R3 because of the payoff in component cost. If price is really an issue though, just get out there and ride it. Nothing wrong with the Trance at any spec level.
Thanks guys

For the reassurance... I loved riding the faith around. Great for my skills and much, much more!!

However, she is a big girl... it'll just make me stronger on the trails, hehe. How high should i have the seat post above the shock spring to avoid damage to the spring? How much does the Faith 3 weigh, around 42lbs??

Cheers guys,
Thanks for the help.
Laurence

P.S. Could you guys post some pics of the Faiths' up close, or on the trails?

:D :D :D ;)

42 lbs!!!??? I'm sure your joking, the Reign is 32 lbs and is considered a fatty. Don't know the Faiths weight, but it certainly is not that. Joke right....? My guess... 30 lbs at the heaviest.
You have got to be kidding right?? That's a 8" travel DH bike. Do you see how much material they use to build the frame? The frame alone weighs in the 10+lb range I'd suspect, then add on the components. maybe try visiting the FAITH thread and do some reading before you go spouting info you have no clue about.

Just to give you a head start with the Math....... the frame weighs 10+lbs (that's about 3+lbs heavier than the Reign), a 8" travel fork are usually COIL sprung and weigh 6-8lbs (that's about 2-3lbs heavier than the forks the Reign will use). Already there you've got a possible 6+lbs over the Reign, and just an FYI most Reigns come in stock around 32+lbs - unless it's a R1. To get a Reign under 30lbs you have to spend a crap load of cash and IMHO compromise the integrity of the bike for the type of riding it was designed for.

I thought you were getting angry at me for my weight guesstimate...
No you would have been "quoted" then, was directed to Clutchman - don't want anyone going buying a FAITH expecting to get it anywhere near 32lbs :D and be very disapointed do we.
