...STORMY WEATHER WITH HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS POSSIBLE FOR THE
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PERIOD FROM TUESDAY INTO EARLY FRIDAY...

A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN APPEARS TO BE SHAPING
UP AS EARLY AS TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. THE PACIFIC JET STREAM WILL SHIFT
FARTHER SOUTH...TAPPING INTO SUB-TROPICAL MOISTURE. SNOW LEVELS
WILL RISE TO OVER 6000 FEET AS A CONTINUOUS STREAM OF PACIFIC
MOISTURE SLAMS INTO NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. THIS MAY
CONTINUE AT LEAST THROUGH THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS.

AS THE START OF THIS PATTERN CHANGE IS STILL FIVE DAYS AWAY...THERE
IS SOME FORECAST UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE STRENGTH AND TIMING OF
THIS STORM SYSTEM. HOWEVER...THERE IS INCREASING CONFIDENCE THAT A
PERIOD OF WARMER...VERY WET AND WINDY WEATHER WILL DEVELOP. IF
THIS OCCURS THERE WOULD BE A THREAT OF URBAN AND SMALL STREAM
FLOODING...AS WELL AS MUD SLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS OVER BURN
SCARRED AREAS FROM THIS PAST SUMMER`S FIRES. PERSONS IN MONTEREY AND
SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES WHO ARE NEAR THE BURN AREAS SHOULD PAY VERY
CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION SINCE IT APPEARS THAT
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE IN BOTH AREAS. IN ADDITION TO THE
HEAVY RAINFALL POTENTIAL...VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
THROUGH THE PERIOD ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COAST AND HIGHER ELEVATION
LOCATIONS.

CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECAST...STATEMENTS AND WARNINGS
FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AS WE APPROACH THE CHRISTMAS
HOLIDAY TRAVEL PERIOD

The is a precipitation situation transformation.

Does that spell the end of trail riding for a while? Indoor trainer reviews?

Hey that forecast discussion is much nicer than the one I got this morning that said an "atmospheric river may hang up in area of Santa Cruz Mountains on Tuesday /Wednesday....We may see 8-10 inches of rain in 24-36 hour period depending on where it hangs up on the coast. "

well, at any rate, looks like rain.

If this isn't suscriber-only data, maybe we can include the link for future updates, in case their prediction becomes true or changes over time...

If you do, try to throw the Insiderides on your list of ones to review.(if you are including rollers in you reviews)
Highly recommended...best option out there IMO, but you do have to be willing to pony up some coin cause they are spendy. They are a little different than traditional rollers.
The beauty is you can do full on sprints out of the saddle with absolutely no worries of flying off like you would on Kreitlers.
Spent a ton of hours on them last year and will do the same this year...especially with a baby coming out of the oven in mid-late Feb....

Nope! Just got back from 40 miles on the road bike [with 2 miles of dirt], we haven't had a drop down here in Soneithernorcal" since Tuesday, and we're not expecting rain until mid-day Sunday. Planning a MTB ride for tomorrow morning:thumbsup:
Here's a crappy photo or three from Wednesday's 30 mile SS ride, out toward the Oceano dunes, Avilla Beach, and down to Cuesta Grade.

And you can keep those hi-tech Gerbil Gymborees [rollers] too. I'll take riding in the rain on the SS or CX bike to those things. There's even an authentic Frites shop in SLO - wet ride + Frites + Duvel = living!

Single speed weather. Nice to have some singletrack + fireroads that drain good right out the front door. Viva la night ride.

dang! I'm off the whole week and was planning at least 2 rides at Demo  A couple of days' snowboarding at Tahoe would be a nice substitute, but now I'm worried I'd get stranded there even with chains for the Elemonster.
Looks like it will be a week of rides on the fixie, and some digging on the pump track...

I have a 2 " pipe stand with a couple of hamster wheels spinning in the opposite direction. When I want more resistance, I toss a piece a food in front of the cages.............................I consider it a good workout if the hamsters poop out before I do.
