Anybody got any suggestions for a rafting company in/around GJ? We have some friends coming to visit Aug 6th - 9th and they want to do a trip. She said not just a float trip, so it sounds like they want a few rapids. I haven't rafted in many moons and I only did trips on the Arkansas, never around here.

I'm assuming I need to look into a trip into the Westwater area or what about the Gunnison? Glenwood might be a little bit more driving than they want to do?

Looking at Adventure Bound since it's closest. Anyone done this trip?

Westwater is probably your best bet at that time of year (or Cataract if you have the time).
Westy's a fun trip, especially as an overnight or if you haven't rafted a ton. Big water feel but fairly tame rapids. Be prepared to get motored through the flatwater if you're doing a single day.
Gunny Gorge can have water in August but not a ton and can be expensive because of the pack in. Good fishing though.
If you've got time and the funds, Cataract is the way to go. Takes at least 3 days though.
If you want to scare the hell out of them, take them up to Gore Canyon

They are only gonna be here 3 days total, so I think cataract is out. I know we're golfing one day and not sure what they have planned for the other day. Sounds like they just want a day trip that has some rapids.

AB does a good one day Westwater trip. Bonus is that they let you take duckies down through the canyon (at least they used to). Skull in a duckie is not to be missed! It is a full day.

An alternative would be Shoshone to wherever in Glenwood. Even with the drive to Gwood, might be a shorter day than Westwater. If you are interested pm me, and I can get you a contact in Glenwood.

Catfish Canoe. Henry is good people. I believe his business is a self guided tour and he provides the shuttle. I have never paid for my boating experiences I have always known someone.

Slope folk is right about Glenwood it may in fact be a shorter day than West Water plus there is the appeal of the hot springs in the evening, if your so inclined.

Shoshone is a blast but lasts all of about 30 minutes - lots of action though. You can continue the run from Grizzly down to Two Rivers and make a longer float out of it. Alternatively, there's the option of putting in at Two Rivers and floating down to New Castle or Silt - all Class 2 water, but fun and then you're already part of the way back home to GJ. Westwater is a full day, but bigger rapids. If I were in GJ that's what I'd run.
