im trying to figure out what the hell this is that appears on my hands...

appears a couple times a year, only on my hands, last 3-4 days then it goes away.

this time it coincided with having the flu, maybe a total immune breakdown? ive tried making doctors appointments in the past when it surfaces, but then it goes away so fast there is no point.

i took pictures this time though, lucky you ;)

any ideas?

Nasty. I occasionally get a outbreak that looks a little like that, but not nearly as bad. The doctor says "contact dermatitis, should clear up in a couple days" and it does. Evidently I'm allergic to something, I just have no idea what. Usually happens during the winter when my skin is very dry and cracking, I guess it's more open to little particles then.
ouch that looks itchy--i get somethin' similar on my knees and elbows when they get really dry--DM got the Prog I think--Contact Derm. Hives are, I do believe, large circular "patches" that are very itchy and very prone to break out along spine, butt, wrists, and waist when allergic to something.
neoprene allergy

Do any of your gloves have a neoprene lining? Same material as wet suits. It is in a lot of gloves because it is stretchy and water proof. Some people are allergic to it.
Switch to all leather or cotton to see if there is a difference.
good luck
I Googled "contact dermatitis" and the first pic looks exactly like what you have.

I think it's herpes.

fp
Lichen Planus.

I suffer from Lichen Planus, a skin disorder that looks similar when active. Is it around your wrists also? Fortunately, with treatment, I was able to get it under control. It zeroed in on my feet and my hands/wrists. Now, you can barely see the discolorations, but for a while it was horrible. Good luck.
