My 11 year old son and I will be going to ABasin tomorrow.
Anyone else?
I will check back later tonight - gotta go to a basketball game now.
We can carpool if you want - I will have plenty room.

Workin tomorrow.

BUT

You guys will have great snow, and epic traffic. Leave I-70/C-470 before 630AM, and head back early, or stay for dinner. No need to have a fun day ruined with bumper-to-bumper stress.

Stay on the upper chairs, too. Less of a CF

Pali was epic the other day..... 13 cornices, Standard... all good.
Visibility was pretty low so we didn't venture over to the west allleys and Gauthier, and they might not be open. Patrol was working in that area though and it may be prime for tomorrow.
Grays and Torreys, Lightning Trees back in Montezuma Bowl were virtually untouched as of Wednesday due to sparse conditions on the traverse. Probably be a hiker, but probably be worth it...... Might not fly with the Grom along though.. unless his kung fu is strong.......

We haven't skied much the past couple years, but we'll see how he does.
First time this season :madman: . I plan to get him on at least a couple fun runs. Hopefully Pali and maybe one of the Alleys, after some increasingly more difficult warm ups, and before he gets too tired!
Trust me, I would much rather go during the week, but can't do that too often, what with having to go back to minimum vacation time last year due to job change!
Look for us and say hi if you're there.
Me - green jacket, silver helmet.
Him - blue/black jacket, white-ish helmet.
Have a good w/e everyone.

Yeah, I was just giving you a hard time. My wife and I are 'fortunate' to have non 9-5 jobs, so we can play during the week. It has its trade offs, but man is it nice to have Pali to ourselves on a Tuesday

Hope you guys had a good time and survived the traffic!

Wha'ts this "skiing" thing I keep hearing about? Is it a new wheel size?
It's what Skrd Shtles does in the winter, so it can't be good;) Get a board!

Yeah we went up on a Monday between Christmas/New Years and it was nuts! We started to go Keystone then bailed and went up the the Basin, which wasn't much better. Normally we would have went home and rode bikes, but we had friends in town so we stayed and put up with the lift lines :)

However last Mon/Tues was empty!

OK yea - it was fun.
Traffic of course, sucked, and of course, we left home a little later than expected, so hit the traffic, but still got there by the time the lifts opened.
It was cold, windy off and on and fairly crowded (not bad for a Sat.).

Ready to roll.

Started working our way East to West. A couple greens, then a blue or 2 down low, then up to Humbug.

Threw in a tougher blue before lunch, King Cornice, and he was eating it up, and having fun -

Broke for lunch, rested up, and I let him in on my evil plan after a post lunch warmup. Took him up Pali lift and told him we'd be headed down Pali Main Street. He was pretty nervous, but I convinced him he'd be fine, and I wouldn't take him down anything if I didn't think he could handle it. He ended up loving it, doing great, and for our last run I told him to choose whatever he wanted. Normally that would mean blasting down a cruiser, but he says, I want to do that one again! Inside I was cheering very loudly. Outside I was a little more calm, but still excited - well, let's take North Glade/International - the snow looked a little better.

He'll be out-skiing and out-riding me before I know it, and his older sister will be too.
 For them!

Maybe again next Sat and/or Sun!

Sorry Mike - couldn't get W Turbo in, and where the heck is 5th Alley? Looked, but couldn't find!

It was a good day to be on the slopes. I finally got to experience the epic I-70 traffic that I've heard about for years. Left Lakewood at 7:45 and got to Loveland just before 10am.

Finally got to hit some bigger blues. I'm still slow and my linked turns need a bit of practice to be called graceful but I can make it now.

Got to see the Loveland ski patrol in action. This poor guy caught his downhill edge and landed on his right shoulder.

Looks like your boy was ripping it. Right on, Andy:thumbsup:

HA!
I was up that same day, and did the exact same thing. :skep:
I gave up for the rest of the week- decided to bike in 20 degree weather instead

Thursday was fairly busy for a weekday, but the snow was unbeatable!

Now that is funny! Supposed to be heading up tomorrow morning although the snow might be mediocre. However I might not get out Chicago today, so it might be a moot point anyway :madman:

Anyone been up along the divide lately Indian Peaks, etc for backcountry? Might get some snowshoeing and light backcountry in instead whenever I might it home.
