It’s you, isn’t it?I'm surprised Stub see's that many riders. Also curious if a single rider could skew those results.
Yeah....results all skewed by being "relatively" close to the large population base of the Portland metro area. Considering the MRT was considered the best trail in the entire state in polls, it's also no surprise that Phil's makes the list. I guess the NUT is safe for now from being overrun. No kidding. Thank goodness they didn’t say, “5 Best.”

The NUT actually needs more tires, seriously.Yeah....results all skewed by being "relatively" close to the large population base of the Portland metro area. More tires and less fires. The NUT actually needs more tires, seriously.
Yep, I literally left the day the fire started. Unfortunately given the last 10-12 years it seems like the brown scrub Oak hills to the west are pushing further and further east up into the rainforest.More tires and less fires.
Peep! We're not gonna tell them which are the best now are we? - - - Of course, all one has to do is go through old threads on sites like this one.
The local bike shop tried to hint to me "gotta hang with the locals to find the best spots!" -- All I asked is where the good singletrack is lol -- not that big of a dealPeep!
For anything not already on peoples' radar I work under a "show, don't tell" policy.
Gotta learn the secret handshake in order to enter The Inner Circle. The local bike shop tried to hint to me "gotta hang with the locals to find the best spots!" -- All I asked is where the good singletrack is lol -- not that big of a deal
Some of the trails don't have obvious access so even if someone wanted to tell you how to get there it would be challenging. "Go down the forest road to that one clump of trees then hang a left by the weird tree."The local bike shop tried to hint to me "gotta hang with the locals to find the best spots!" -- All I asked is where the good singletrack is lol -- not that big of a deal
Well if you live in Portland and don't want to drive too far, there's not a ton of options so I can't say I'm totally surprised that it gets a lot of traffic.I'm surprised Stub see's that many riders. Also curious if a single rider could skew those results.

I typically only ride there about once a year and then remember why I don't ride there.Well if you live in Portland and don't want to drive too far, there's not a ton of options so I can't say I'm totally surprised that it gets a lot of traffic.
Yeah, I've wondered. My wife and I have ridden by them on our Banks/Vernonia bike path ride a couple times in Feb or Mar and like you said, they looked kinda sloppy. The video in the Pinkbike article makes them look like they might be worth doing if you live close. Not enough miles available to make a 45 minute drive to get there worth it.I've been to Stub once -- 3 or 4 years ago while I was working at REI.
The company held an ETE (Experiential Training Event) there.
Whole bunch of vendors plus lots of us REI emps from around the PNW.
Anyway it was like Feb or Mar so cold, damp and sloppy. Muddy sloppy.
I really have no idea whether Stub offers good riding these days but I can tell you it didn't right then.
