Ridefest was a blast!! Lotsa fun riding the different local trails. The attendance was smaller than I expected, but everyone who came had fun, and rode until their legs wouldnt ride no more. Here are some pictures.
Greenwaters Park on Friday before heading off to Larrison Creek

The ride started with a steep 2 mile climb on pavement, then about ten miles of rolling gravel roads.

The top of the trail was pretty damned steep. There were some tricky switchbacks that humbled me, then it got a little easier.

Boyd took fifth place in the creampuff a few weeks ago. He got to take it easy this weekend, only riding about 125 miles in 4 days.

The lower sections were fast and smooth. The trail runs along Larrison Cove.

Hanging out at the Trailhead Cafe on friday night, drinking beers and watching helmet cam footage and the day's latest Tour De France updates.

Saturday was centered around the Westfir covered bridge. All 3 rides were hitting the alpine trail, with the Epic linking up Tire mountain and Winberry Divide as well. I've posted many Alpine trail shots, but here's a few more.
Earning it on another gravel climb (well actually we shuttled halfway up the road)

Libby kicked ass for this being her third time riding singletrack. She rode this trail like an old pro.

After the ride, we cooled off with a swim in the North Fork of the middle Fork of the Willamette River.

Saturday night was pretty mellow. We had a a great burrito dinner, a bike trials show courtesy of a local trials club, and a raffle where it seemed like everyone won some swag, including pint glasses and glass beer pitchers from Kona. Luckily, there were a bunch of cases of Mctarnahans's beer donated by Portland Brewing to fill the pitchers with.

On Sunday we met at the park before an easy day of riding 9 at least for my group). Before the ride, we watched the trials guys playing on some nice natural terrain.

First we rode the lower part of Flat Creek trail. Here's a shot of a new bridge built by the DOD this winter. Good job guys!!

We cruised thru the fish hatchery and looked at some fat trout and a few 9 foot sturgeon, and then while some people headed off to climb the 4 miles of pavement to the top of Larrison Rock, a few of us decided to shuttle the road. Here are some happy fox forks resting on the drive up.

Here's a shot of Rob and Matt from Florida, they came all the way out for Ridefest this year. good to meet you guys.

This weekend was so much fun that I cant wait for all the other fun rides ahead this summer. We stil hae the high country waiting for the mosquitos to die off, and then a few hundred more miles of fun will be ours.

happy fox forks loved that one.

You guys are soooo lucky in America. There is nothing like that here in Northern Ireland. There is nice scenery but no where as big or as open. There isnt a single bike park only a few trails that enthusiasts have built.

Well like i said you guys get it lucky, But those are some amazing pics. As soon as i'm a bit older i'm def going to America for some summer and i cant wait to get on all the trails etc.

Nice pics btw loved emm all, especailly the forks, lol :D

Oakridge/Westfir, about 30 minutes east of Eugene along Hwy 58.

Looks great! My husband in from Portland so next time we go to see his family, I'm going to try to hit this trail.

It might make visiting the inlaws bearable...LOL

When you come give a shout on the Oregon Forum ahead of time so some locals can show you around.

Thanks Matt!

I don't often get into any pics and you caught me on the one switchback that I was able to make by hopping the back tire around.

You all make the weekend great with your unflagging enthusiasm. Thanks again!

I set up at that switchback knowing you guys were only a few minutes back on me. davey had just pulled up to where we were regrouping, so i took off to find a good spot to take shots of the advanced group passing thru.

I always have to walk that switchback, but knew that a bunch of you guys could clean it. Several people rode it without using any "english" and a few used your method of bouncing around the bend. Most had to dab, and were pretty embarassed to see me sitting there with my camera. I chose not to post any photos of the failures to protect the guilty.

I have a few more of you making that sequence but felt it would be repetitive. If you want to stitch together an animated gif withthem I can email ya.
Glad you could make it down to ride on saturday. See ya later, Sasquatch

Oh well, I figured I'd post one to show what happens if you do it wrong.

I miss that type of riding, hard to find buff singletrack up here. Really none on the south island, If I come down I would love to hook up with the old DoD crew and get taken to school...lol. It's been so long since I have ridden XC.
