Hello all, signed up for the hard rock and after looking at last years picture gallery I am wondering about trying Kenda Small Block 8's for the race. I am just an old weekend warrior, not really competive even in my age group but I might want to try something faster than my standard cheap tires. Looks like a lot of riders went with the small block style tires last year. Will they work in the sandy stuff? Looking forward to 48 miles of fun (probably 48 miles of pain). Thanks for any replies.

SB8's will be as good as anything in the sand, bonus points if you're on a 29er, they seem to do a little better in the sand. Lean back and surf it.

Really, you're looking for a fast rolling tire, something you can keep the speed up on.
