Good choice

I wanted to pipe in on your thread regarding the 450 and advise you to spend the extra money on the 650, but I'm always hesitant to tell someone to spend more than their stated budget unless it's an issue of safety, or their choice is just way off. I'm glad to see that you came to the conclusion to buy the better bike. It is well worth the extra money spent, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing. I am still kicking myself for not buying the upgrade swinger three way for my asta.:madman: Its still the best fit bike I have ever rode besides my old mongoose (real mongoose) sycamore.

Well, I did order the last one and now it says Special Edition comming. I hope its not a better bike at the same price. Actualy I did about buy a 450. I put the 650 into the shopping cart earlyer in the day and decided not to order. I later went to order and it was comming up out of stock. I came to the decision that I was ment to have the 450 and put one into the shoping cart. When I did the 650 from earlyer that day was still in there so I just deleted the 450 and went with the 650.

I can't wait to hear what this is. Why would you be upset if it was a better bike at the same price? I'd be doing cartwheels.

Let us know what the bike is when it arrives.

Because he got the last 06 bike and could have gotten a better bike for the same $. I suppose you could always send back and re-order. Would cost a bit in shipping though.

I ordered an Alp 350 for my son yesterday too. Shipped out today with delivery scheduled for thursday. Now that is quick turn around.

I misunderstood. I thought the post meant that he ordered the last one and they advised him that they would be shipping him a special edition. I guess we need to wait and see what this special edition model is. Who knows if it's better, more money, less money, etc. In any event, I don't believe he was shortchanged regardless of what the SE is. He saw a bike, he knows the specs, he knows the price, he bought. He will get exactly what he paid for. If the SE is a better buy, yes, he can send back, but he's gonna spend the money to have the 650 shipped back to Ibex, and have the SE shipped. That's probably going to eat up any preceived difference in value of the SE, if indeed it's a better buy.

I stopped by the house while working to see if it was there and passed the UPS guy leaving. Anyway I got it together and took it for a little ride trying to get the brakes worn in. It does not feel much smaller than my 19.5" trek but does feel better. Overall I am happy with it but I am having ussues with the brakes. when I lift the bike and spin the wheel I can hear them rubbing. Should I be able to adjust this out? Is the adjustment on the caliper the same as the one on the lever just adjusting the cable? Also how is the cable for the front brakes supose to run? through the fork? Anyway I will get back later with a pic.

I went on a little ride and I have never had a bike with such stopping power. I was on the pavement and and wanted to stop hard I normaly just pull both brakes as hard as possible so I wanted to do that and see what happens at about 20MPH and the rear end starts fishtailing. Was prety interesting I have never had a bike with that much power in the rear. Anyway I ride around in some loose dirt going up and down ditches in a developing subdivision and lost footing and the pedal came up and wacked me in the back of my leg so I got my first battle mark from the bike. I got a busted out tooth from a huffy and a big old mark beside my eye from a GT so I am a Newbie but I have been around before in the past but its been awhile. Now I have to decide on getting cheap clipless pedal shoes or buying a pair of standard pedals. Anyway its fun and I am not sure if I will be hitting any trails or just since there isnt much of anything local but I plan on having the bike for awhile so you never know. I am glad that I got the 650 and not the 450 as I am just satifyed with the components any less and I might have been upset.
