Here it is less than a week before the race and we've got no shout out thread. Who's going? Whatcha riding?

I'll be there on my rigid SSed Voodoo.

Any interest in an mtbr 29er board pic like we tried (and failed miserably) to do last year? Or are 29ers just so commonplace now that its not worth the effort. ;)

[email protected] all you SS guys. I love the SS... but those big hills make this flat-lander nervous.

Woog, honestly...do you think I can pull it off on the SS...I'm in a little better shape than I was at OC, but not leaps and bounds.

Ahhhhh...you guys...

LP
Sure you can. The big climbs are on gravel roads, and that makes all the difference in the world.

What's the registration situation like? Is it usually filled by race day?
I'm not sure there's a limit. An email to Todd (its on the website) will probably get a pretty quick response. Or a post to the NC board here on mtbr. FWIW, I registered a couple of days ago with no problems.

What chu runnin'? I normally run a 34x20, so the quandry is run a 34x21 or 34x22, any thoughts or experience?
I ran a 32-20, didn't do a whole lot of walking or hanging out at aid stations, and was an hour off the fastest SS pace.

i am tryin my normal mid-atlantic gear 34x21 (on a 29er). i could live to regret it; but it seems to me like most of the climbs are fireroads. my strategy is just keep moving & i have zero shame in walking parts of those climbs as well...

Allroy and I are in. We'll be driving down Friday evening from D.C. and it should take us about ten hours. Hopefully we'll get there anywhere from 8-noon on Saturday. Can anyone save us a couple of camping spots?
