So, I have to get a Trek of Fisher. They are a sponser of our team and I will get a good discount. I ride road and a little CX, but after doing 2 back to back 90 mile rides on smooth trails on my CX bike I want a 29er to do some racing with. I have 2 bikes in mind and I guess it comes down to the FS vs. hardtail debate. I will be doing alot of fast single track, most of which will have lots of roots and rocks but no huge drops. Also, in a couple of years I want to try and get into the Leadville 100(I was inspired by the movie). So what would you do and why?

The bikes are the Fisher Paragon vs. the Hi-Fi Deluxe(both 2011)

Thanks

hope your sponsor doesn't read this board. you sound disappointed to have to ride what you're promoting.

do you have a chance to demo either bike? 29" should be great on fast rough rooty singletrack. Do you stand and hammer much? Full suspension is not as ideal for standing; though if well tuned, may not matter. Riding a lot in rough rooty stuff, full suspension could allow you to maintain power more consistently and be an advantage climbing.

I am not disappointed at all, Fisher bikes are kick ass.

The problem is both bikes are sold out untill like Sept. and the next demo in my area will be in Nov. and the only hardtail they will have will be the Superfly. I spin more then I hammer, my last crit I averaged 105 for my cadence. If it matters I 6'1" 180lbs.

correct me if i am wrong but the hifi/paragon is the same as the superfly 100/superfly, but aluminum frame.

really, you need to buy both bikes:thumbsup:

for leadville, go with a hardtail. i love the superfly/paragon.

but you asked in an endurance forum. so i assumed you want to do other 100 milers. other courses arent so forgiving as leadville and i would want FS. for example the wilderness 101 or breck 100. i ran the mt casner dirty century 100 2 months ago on a HT. sure i did it, but by the end of the day, my back was aching something fierce
