Front or rear? I have been using it a lot on the rear at 28-30 psi. Nice and grippy. Have not had any issues with pinchflats. I really like the cinder in back with the Fire 2.4 FR in front at about 22-25 psi. I need to try the cinder in front a bit more and see how it fairs.Molasses said:I love my Fire XC Pro's but need a bigger tire for rockier rides. Anyone using the Cinders on their SS? My concern is that they may roll too slowly...

On the rocks and roots of Oregon singletrack baby! :thumbsup:mrsalty said:MF,
What type of terrain are you riding with 26" wheels on those pressures??
I would be tapping rims all over the place in my neck of the woods.
My experience with Cinders is that there are better front tires available.
Rear only for me.

So far so good. I weigh 160, 165 with gear, 170 with gear and winter insulationeek: ). I generally ride "light" = kind to my gear (not impling that you are not). I am sure there are plenty of better front tires available. Kenda comes to mind as does WTB. The Timberwolf looks mean in the 2.7 flavor, but alas would not fit up front and I think it is too heavy for me. I like the 2.4 FR and that is about as heavy as I want to go.
Cheers!
Mutanos are nice. I have a 2.24 that does not see much use anymore. The 2.4 looks fantastic. I have heard the Exi is scary in wet. Yet have heard Weirwolfs are not good in wet, but folks here in Salem seem to like them in the mud...mrsalty said:MF,
no implying necessary.......................
I am a line stuffer at best!
I have also had good luck with WTB tires.
Currently I use a 2.4 Mutano.
Not the best at any one thing, but really good at most.
Of course it is dry and dusty here most days.
My Exi's are pathetic in mud and wet.
How is the 2.4 on the wet??

My first ride on the Cinder 2.25 (f&r) was at Socal Demo Forest. Rode them hard and fast. Never bottomed them out. Great ride. Lots of grip. Later learned I had both tires at ~20psi.mrsalty said:.....but for SS, no thanks.
PINCH FLATS.
The side walls are a bit THIN, so forget running any pressure below 32 or so (IME).
I had good luck with the Conti Gravity Protection.
Still had to run around 30psi in them, but in my opinion, a far superior tire in terms of durability.
I use the Cinder on the rear of my FS.

Really. Probably has something to do with riding mtbs for 14 years before I even owned any type of suspension.mrsalty said:20 psi??????????
On a 26" tire? fast over technical/rocks?
No problem rolling the bead at that pressure?
I have never run less than 20psi on the rear of my 29er.
26" forget about it.............
All I can say is WOW.
Must be nice.
