I rode a Nerve xc (26" version) for 2,5 years, great xc bike. Just got a Nerve AL 29 2 month ago as a replacement. Great bike xc bike again. Fast yet flickable and playful. Have not ridden the 650b Nerve AL, but it should do the trick, depending on what you are looking for in a bike. What is your intended use?
We have more Canyon bikes in the house (Strive and Torque FRX) both perform very well at their intended use (endure and DH), so I think Canyon builds good bikes for a very fair price. Can't go wrong if you don't want to kill your budget.
I personally did make small changes to the xc bikes. Different brakes because I dislike the feel of avid. Set-back seat post as I like that position in relation to the pedals. Different seat and grips. All very personal touches, but that is an easy option with the prices at Canyon.
