I was looking at all the bike porn in the "post your urban/dj etc" sticky on this forum. I was wondering what a decent bike is for someone on a budget.

Ive been digging around google and also googling some of the bikes you guys have but I cant afford to spend 1000+ on a bike right now. But i also dont want something cheap.:nono:

Specialized, Jamis, Giant, Gary Fisher all have decent bikes from sub $600 to $800. Also looks for closeouts at Jenson and Tree Fort Bikes (who ships bikes for free). That or keep an eye on the classifieds

Umm, I think a good price for such a bike is $1600, sometimes starting out with something a little nicer means you don't have to upgrade later

I would if i could but that is out of my price range. That bike is probably more than what I plan to do with it...or better yet is beyond my current potential.

No worries, but seriously, don't sell yourself short. I've learned that better bikes really do make you a better rider. Things like brakes, chainstay lengths, suspension, and just good geometry really do make tricks and jumping easier. There are so many guys selling lightly used bikes on forums like this, just go hunt around, ask opinions from us, and I'm sure you can find something really good for what your able to spend.

Another brand no one has brought up, Eastern. I've been really impressed by their stuff, and if you look I believe on Jenson they are blowing some of them out. Might be a good route to go.
