Ohlins TTX2AIR air or Custom RS Super Deluxe

I am debating a shock upgrade eventually for my 21 Stumpjumper Evo. I am attracted like a fly to flypaper to Ohlins as I hear that Ohlins stuff is generally excellent and for the uniqueness and bling factor. The Ohlins will be purchased from Ohlins specifically for the bike. However, the practical me is also entertaining a tractive or AVY tuned Super Deluxe as a possibility. I could find a new or lightly used Super Deluxe and get it tuned and maybe save some money. Opinions please?

I put a TTX 1 air on my trance x and its great. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. It's so nice im considering an ohlins fork.

Ohlins FTW. I found the Super Delux to feel really overdamped.
I really like my TTx2, but i haven't tried a RS SD to compare.
Going to be that guy and say custom tuned SD, only because it's tuned for you, your bike and your riding. Assuming you use a known entity for tuning.

I have a TTX Air 1 on my YT Izzo and a TTX Air 2 on my Commencal Meta Power TR. Highly recommended.
I have now RS SD installed and it's super supportive. But it depends how much you weight. I'm 80 kg (about 186 lbs) with riding clothes.
RS SD is easier to service too.

PS. I have Spesh Evo too

Back to back on the same bike TTX by a mile and the super deluxe is still really good, but it wasn't even close . Custom tuning on the TTX is also really inexpensive.
I think I am decided on the Ohlins then.

Don't think you'll go wrong but if you don't like it Fluid Focus has custom tuning starting at 75$ I think you can buy directly from them with custom tuned.

I would suggest an air shock for the EVO, it really doesn't work as well with coils.
Cascade link makes it better, but it really works best with an air shock IMO.

Enduro on the other hand, is a beast with a coil. (y)

I was going to decide between the TTX2Air or the TTX1Air. Not sure which will be better yet.
Everything points at the bike being fairly progressive and it ships with a coil option so it seems a TTX2 would make sense
I bought a TTx2 and would highly recommend it. They include not only air bands, but also two alloy spacers that you can install in the main chamber to increase progression of the air spring. This makes it extremely configurable, I would think that the TTx2 could be made to work on almost any frame. I wouldn't buy a TTx1 unless you were going for a 100% XC build.

Everything except the 19% progression..... :ROFLMAO:

I talked to a few people that have tried, as well as some suspension tuners. The general opinion is that air is better.
But that won't stop people.

Oh, maybe the TTx1 is needed then...

The TTX1Air is described as for "trail bikes and eMTBs with more linear suspension systems". The TTX2 is billed as a "robust air-sprung shock is best suited to bikes with more progressive linkage ratios." I found these charts on Pinkbike. Aqua line is the 21 Stumpjumper EVO. The scale of the chart could be better but I suppose that looks more linear than progressive so the TTX1 could be more appropriate? The Ohlins suspension guide states that the coil and both air shocks as compatible and also provides recommended starting values.

Ohlins state the TTX 1 and 2 air shocks will work for the Evo. They just have differing amounts of pressure and volume reducers.

Call them in NC. Very knowledgeable and will spend time talking you through the correct choice.

I buy Ohlins and have it custom tuned. It’s the way to go.
