Okay, so I finally got the Email that my frame is painted and in the truck on her way back to DeSalvo. He says I will have it on Friday, but times being what they are....

When I ordered it, I thought I might wait tillit arrives before I cut my hair, but it got in the way when I was doing up my belt buckle, so I cut it.

I thought about not shaving, but she wouldn't kiss me, so the beard went away.

It is now tuesday, which means maybe 3, up to about 6 days. What if I didn't brush my teeth or change my underwear? Maybe I should eat only cabbage, or not drive in the fast lane until it is built and dirty.

Any suggestions?

I suppose you want pictures. Here's what I have so far.

P, the frame looks nice!

I finally broke down too. A Vicious Cycles frame is suppose to arrive at my house on Thursday. I can't wait to get it put together.

Definitely most pics of your when it's done - muddy or otherwise.

Thanks Eric,
I will look forward to seeing your pics up soon too. Will your viscious be a modern bike with a squishy fork and disc brakes etc?

No squishy fork, but it will have disc brakes and all the other modern conveniences. :)

What a beaut!
Fantastic color combo.

I wouldn't change anything about your daily habits other than paying special attention to staying alive long enough to build and then ride the sh!t out of that amazing frame. :D

Mike Rocks

So he got it back from Spectrum yesterday, prepped it and sent it overnight. FedEx has it on the truck today.

Know what I'm thinking about?

Welcome 2006

The new DeSalvo is built and ridden. I got my frame yesterday and put most of it together, but had a long seesion with bleeding the brakes (new lines, etc...) Finished it this morning and got busy with other things.

It has been raining cats and dogs today, and I promised my kids I would make Mole Poblano, so the few hours of sun were kinda shot, but I did get the kitchen in shape by about sunset and took a quick ride in the dark.

Initial impression is WOW. I look at the thing, and it looks HUGE, but it fits me well, and feels very natural under way. (Can't attest to the ride quality as of yet, since I am on a borrowed Marzocchi fork, which I will ignore until my WB comes.)

I couldn't tell how fast I was going in the dark, or how big the bumps and ruts were, but everything feels very fast compared to my 26" ss. I may have a very low gear on there but at 32/20, I figured I was in the same range, and this bike spins out easily and seems to climb well, even though I only tried it on wet pavement and a few little "neighborhood features." .Smooth, fast and powerful are words that come to mind. I can't wqit to get a real ride in, but it looks like a week out before the rains stop and things dry out enough for a decent evaluation.

Here's a build list:
DeSalvo Custom Steel 29er - Bushnell EBB - SS only
Bontrager SS Disc wheelset. (Cheap used and heavy. Ask me again in a year.)
WTB Nano raptor Kevlar tires with 26 in tubes.
XT Hollowtech cranks w/integrated BB (32 and 34 blackspire rings installed)
Endless 20t cog. (I will add 18t eventually for a 2 speed set up)
Hayes HFX Mag Brakes, 6in avid rotors, carbon levers. (polished and refurbished)
Thomson post and stem stem
Titec hell bent riser bar (I had it around.)
Specialized BG grips - Very very nice.
King Headset
Marzocchi Fork (until the WB 1.0 "magic" shows up)
Brooks Professional Saddle. (My first in years, and I think I am really going to like it.)

Peter, very cool! Looking forward to seeing the pics of the full build.

It looks like another storm is about to hit you guys, so it might be a while before the trails are dry enough to ride. Hopefully you can sneak a dry-ish ride in eventually.

Stopped raining for a while.

Did ya ride today? I'm down the road from you (Placerville area) and it quit raining for a while this morning.

Your new frame looks awesome. It'll be a couple of weeks into January before I get my first 29er ss. All the parts are starting to trickle in and it's driving me crazy. I want my new frame here now and built!!!

Not the best pictures. I will post better or more specific shots when the sun comes out again. Right now, I gotta go ride.
Lookin' really good, especially the wheels ;)

When are you coming over to Marin so I can see it live and in person? Depending on how the trails fared with these storms, we could hit either CC or Tamarancho, or if they're too washed out right now, do a fire road tour on Tam.
